Let’s Go Out To The Drive-In!

Coral Hills Drive In located on Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights was opened in 1953 by Sidney Lust. It was later purchased by Winelands in the 1980s. By the 1990’s it had decayed badly as we see in this photo, yet there is still something awesome about the site of it. The drive in is gone now and the area is home to a new school.

Coral Hills was just one of the great Drive In Theaters of the 60s and 70s, and many of us saw great movies there back in the day. These great pictures show the Theater on its first opening night, through the 1960’s all the way up to its sad end before it was torn down. We hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we do.

INTERMISSION

The great thing about drive ins of the 60s and 70s was the commericals. Those wacky commericals, complete with dancing hot dogs, singing cakes and pies and baton twirling ice cream bars.

Thanks to Driveins.org (fantastic site!) for letting us use some great photos!
