Wow ! I am quite impressed with the great graphics and organized topics . Great job. I am a member of Ron Tutt's Native Washingtonian group. I created The Glover Park/ Burleith / Georgetown / Mac Arthur Blvd. page. Growing up in D.C. I knew people from all over the "metro" area . Yep "block style" listened to a lot of Motown in the '60's -' 70's ! Then Bell bottoms , etc. !

I had Mr. Yates for 5th grade. One fond memory was our class called ourselves the “Yates Lightbulbs” for field day.., we had tie dyed yellow tee shirts! It was so much fun.

Loved Mr Yates. Had him for 5th Grade 1965. One day in class everyone had been speaking out without raising their hands. He said to the class that anyone else who spoke out without raising their hand would be going to the office. Well...I had not been feeling well that day. Mr Yates had turned around and was writing on the board so he couldn’t see me frantically waiving my hand. So I yelled out. He turned around just in time to see me barf all over. I remember him turning back around and hitting his head on the board!! Funny now. I am sure it was not at all funny then!!!

This is Mr. Yates - he was my all time favorite teacher at Sandymount Elementary....had him for 5th grade! That would've been somewhere around 1965!

I went to Temple Hills Elementary from 1959- 1964. Loved that little school so much. Great teachers and such a positive experience there, esp w/Mrs. Flood's 5th grade class. And Mrs. Sistrunk in the 3rd grade. Loved going to Saturday matinees there that featured Francis the Talking Mule, the Three Stooges, etc., and popcorn. Remember celebrating George Washington's b-day w/cherry pie in the cafeteria. So much fun on the playground, esp on the good Ocean Wave ride. I feel so blessed to have attended a small neighborhood school where it felt like one big family and everyone knew everyone else. We all looked out for each other. Many great there a way to get a copy of any of the yearbooks from my time there? So wish that I could find old classmates!

I joined the Silver Hill volunteer fire department in 1973 because a close friend of mine who lived on Silver Park Drive near me had joined previously. I turn my experience at the Silver Hill fire department in to my lifelong work. I was a member of the County Fire Department full-time from 1982 till 2012.

Green Valley was right in my backyard all I had to do was hope my fence and I was on the school grounds. We used to play all of our football, baseball and basketball at the school. Does anyone remember going to Some Place Else in SE DC? We used to go there whenever we could, although not 18 yrs old. Loved that place and the owner (can\'t remember his name but would recognize him anywhere!). How many times we went there when were supposed to be at school sports events!
