Happy 20th Year, Everyone! 🎉

January 1, 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of this very website, Marlow Heights 60s and 70s! This website first hit the internet on January 1st, 2005, and we’re still keeping the memories alive, 365! (Above: MarlowHeights60sand70s.com when it launched in 2005.)

The website’s design has changed over the years but we’ve done our best to stay true to the original design and spirit!

Milestones Over the Years

• First Time in the News:

  December 28th, 2005 marked the first time we were featured in a newspaper. We were getting noticed. Since then there been three additional newspaper articles about this site with two of them being from the Washington Post! MarlowHeights60sand70s in the News

• First Get Together:

  As word of the web site spread and became more popular, I decided to put together an in person get together. After considering several suggested venues all over the DMV, I thought, what better place than in Marlow Heights, where many of us grew up? Our first get together was at a family run restaurant that had been around since 1962, Steak in a Sack, in the Marlow Heights Shopping Center, on March 29, 2008. We’ve since held a total of 32 get togethers from then until December 2015! Sadly, Steak in a Sack closed in early 2016, due to a kitchen fire and never reopened. But we’ve kept the tradition alive by holding get togethers at Ledo Pizza, in the same Marlow Heights Shopping Center, almost every year since 2016.

• First Guestbook Entry:

  On July 24, 2005, our first guestbook entry was made by Martin Tillett. We’ve since had well over a thousand entries!

  “Great surprise to find a site dedicated to this area of Maryland and to see and read stories from folks that have memories of life here during the 60’s and 70’s. I hope more folks find the site and can make a contribution that reflects their experience and feelings of this place and time.”

• First Reunion Dance:

  The first Marlow Heights 60s and 70s reunion dance happened on October 3, 2009. We’ve since held one almost every year up to now! Check out our first dance!

• Creation of Our Facebook Group:

  The MarlowHeights60sand70s Facebook group was created in July of 2009. We’ve since created other related Facebook groups:
