My name’s Chuck Fraley, and I basically grew up in Marlow Heights, Maryland, starting from around 1965, until we moved away from the area in late 1973. As an Air Force Brat, we lived in Japan, Colorado, Texas, and a couple of other places in Prince Georges County, Maryland (the old Dennis Grove apartments off of St. Barnabas Road, and 28th Parkway, just up from Oxon Run Park). I lived in Marlow Heights in an area of duplexes then known as Deer P ark Heights,

which was between Olson Street and St. Barnabas Road. I lived on Akron Street, and these duplexes were also located on Beaumont and Culver Streets, Dallas Drive, and Raleigh Road. Raleigh Road intersected with St. Barnabas Road and Olson Street.

I attended Valley View Elementary in Oxon Hill for 2nd Grade, Green Valley Elementary for 3rd Grade, Sandymount Elementary School from 4th-6th Grade, Benjamin Stoddert Jr. High School, and one semester of Potomac Sr High School. I also worked at the Red Barn (which we used to call the "Dead Barn" on St Barnabas Rd, as well as the Jr. Hot Shoppes at the Iverson Mall. I was also a "Grit" for a few years. See the link, “So What’s a Grit?”, for more on that. My father was in the Air Force, and when he retired from the service in late 1973 we moved from Marlow Heights to West Virginia. Both sides of my family are originally from the state, and that’s where I graduated from high school (Meadow Bridge High School). I also have two sisters, Lorrie and Sharon.

When I graduated from high school, I joined the Air Force and made a career of it, staying for 20 years. In that time, I was stationed in the Philippines twice, Italy, Arizona, two tours at the Pentagon, and retired from the service in late 1996 from Bolling Air Force Base. I have also visited England, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Holland, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii. I learned to speak Filipino fairly well, and was almost fluent at one time in Italian.

Since retiring from the Air Force in late 1996 after serving my country for more than 20 years, I have been a government contractor, working for various companies in the DC area. I lived in Northern Virginia from 1985 until July 2004, and relocated to central Florida, living there until 2005. I then moved to Silver Spring, Maryland. I am an Information Security Systems Engineer, and my work involves assessing the security health of government systems and networks. I enjoy this work, because it allows me to be a “Cyber Cop”. I received a Master of Science degree in Network Security from Capitol College, a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Phoenix, and hold the CISSP certification (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), and ISSEP (Information Systems Security Engineering Professional).

I am married and my wife, Maria, and I have two children: a daughter, Evelyn, and son, Carlo. I also have an older son, Damien. We live in Maryland, just outside of DC.
